We view slavery, as the epitome of terror and atrocity, being forced by fear into doing things we don’t want to do; however, we enslave ourselves constantly by blindly pursuing our own desires instead of submitting to God’s will. So many of my friends and acquaintances speak of being “in debt”.
This is just an invisible form of slavery, which we have, yes, chosen.
And this is not the only form, self – indenturement takes. We bind ourselves to our jobs, our family, our pain, becoming frustrated, embittered, enraged, and unapproachable. In short, HURTING! Something within us constantly wars against surrender to God. That extremely difficult task .. of completely letting go.
A songwriter described it as a feeling of losing. We choose to continue with work, habits, relationships that are unrewarding and often damaging simply because we cannot perceive an alternative. The correct path is marked but often has stumbling blocks or other hazards that seem overwhelming to us. There is freedom in surrender…..let it go.
We DO NOT have to choose pain, worry, anxiety, discord, drugs, addictions, disfunction, debt, stress. We have made choices and often, like paths, we are set in a specific motion but WE HAVE HOPE and we can choose.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
ETERNITY______________________________________________________me_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17.
When I feel like I’m losing and life is unfair (which it is), I rely on this TRUTH. Truth is SO hard to come by so like “Waldo”, I search for it and as I search I get better at finding it.
I BLESS your day with the strength to look beyond your pain and fear to see THE WAY.
